I need some Tums

When this country comes together behind a cause as we did following the days of 9/11, no double, the USA is the greatest place on planet earth. United we stand, divided we fall. Divided we get our asses kicked by the Chinese.

The partisan rancor about the presidential election makes me sick to my stomach. can a talking head answer a question straight without telling me how much the other side of the aisle sucks, how little experience they have or how they "don't get it?" Can i get someone to speak who hasn't been given talking points by the party PR machines?

the party loyalists are just as bad. Their invective is poisonous. the hate and rage in some of their voices. I don't want anyone that extreme - either way - to be anywhere near running the country. I guess i like my politics right down the fairway.

I just want what's best for the country and it seems to me that therein lies the problem. What is our country? is it the land, finance, political sway, the foreign policy, assets, military? is it the people who make it up?

seems the republicans think it's the former; the dems the latter.

i think it's a combination of the both. Yes, i want the country safe for my kids but i also want women to have the right to choose; yes, i want smaller, leaner, more efficient government and less taxes taken from my paycheck, but i also want social programs to help those less fortunate. what's the answer? socialism? communism? Was John Lennon onto something when he penned "Imagine?"
